Gaze upon treasures sold off abroad more than 100 years ago with Botticelli and Treasures from the Hamilton Collection at The Courtauld Gallery.
Items from the collection of the 12th Duke of Hamilton, which were acquired in 1882 by the Berlin Kupferstichkabinett, go on rare display in the United Kingdom.
See Botticelli’s 15th-century illustrations for Dante’s epic poem Divine Comedy, depicting Dante’s guided journey through the afterlife, from scenes of hell filled with tormented sinners, to beautiful representations of paradise. And take a closer look at splendid illuminated manuscripts, including the well-known 14th-century Hamilton Bible.
