In the words of the author, he does not invent, but only tries to convey what he sees in the mystical revelations with the help of painterly forms. Moreover, here, at fist glance, there is no place for symbols (in the form of certain well-established elements of information transmission) or cliché. However, mystical experience is always meta-sensuous. It is not perceived as visual, auditory or other images. Transformation of experience into the objects of habitual human perception (the fie senses plus ratio) occurs at the stage of comprehending this experience when a person tries to fid a form of transmission of his/her unusual experience.
On the example of religious texts (both literary and pictorial, sculptural, architectural) and religious practices — spheres directly affcting the mystical experience
— we can see that the canon (as a stable form of content transfer) and the symbol are urgently needed, formative elements. They make up a ramifid system of substantial forms and contribute to the preservation of completeness of meanings and clarity of understanding. Therefore, paintings of A. Mikushev by their very nature maintain a high level of symbolism and metaphor.
